Mezuzot

The mezuzah is a scroll of parchment that is handwritten by expert scribes. The text contains the Shema, the classic Jewish prayer describing our love for God and His oneness. The mezuzah scroll is placed in a mezuzah case for its protection.

A mezuzah mounted on the doorpost marks the home as Jewish, reminding us of our connection to G-d and to our heritage. The mezuzah is also a symbol of G-d’s protection over the home. The name of G-d, Sha-dai, which appears on the reverse side of the parchment, is an acronym for the Hebrew words which mean “Guardian of the doorways of Israel.”

All of Merkaz Stam’s mezuzah parchments are guaranteed to be complete, kosher scrolls that meet the highest standard. They have been written by certified scribes, using only the highest quality natural parchment and ink. Each parchment is examined twice manually by professional examiners and a final check by computer.

Mezuzah scrolls are available by quality and size and also by those written in the Ashkenaz and Sephardic tradition and in the Arizal or Alter Rebbe’s writing style. Merkaz Stam offers special prices for large quantities. Please contact us for more details. The price difference in a mezuzah is determined by Hiddur Mitzvah – beautifying the mitzvah. Since each scribe has his own individual writing style, the skill and beauty of the writing will vary from one scribe to another, as seen in the product samples. The more beautiful the Mezuzah (Mehudar), the greater the cost.
